a Service Provider essentially provides the electronic link that enables seamless transactions between the Government and citizens/businesses.
BACKGROUND OF MYEG
MyEG Services was established in 2000 and was listed on the Mesdaq Board in Jan 2007. It offers a variety of G2C (government to citizen) and e-Government services to the public through the internet and other electronic mediums. The company was born from the Government’s e-initiatives to improve public sector delivery. It was one of three consortiums awarded 15-year concessions in May 2000 to provide government related e-services. The others were MySpeed and Konsortium Multimedia Swasta (KOMMS).
In July 2007, MyEG acquired 100% of MySpeed, making it the dominant market player. MyEG was founded by managing director Mr Wong Thean Soon, a well-respected IT personality with global experience. Mr Wong founded and listed MyWeb Inc.Com on the Nasdaq board in 1999. He subsequently resigned and started MyEG in 2000. The company holds MSC status, which provides tax-free income for five years and a number of other incentives. The initial 5-year tax exemption expired in mid-2006 and has been renewed for another five years until mid-2011.
